Hammock Haus was designed for the students and staff of the Ocean Studies Charter School in Key Largo, Florida. The Design Build project brief was to design a structure that would facilitate learningĀ in the hardwood hammock that was on the school property. The project has many unique features to facilitate the outdoor learning experience. The octagonal openings in the roof and the floor create a connection between the ground and the tree canopy. The infill panels are designed to mimic the landscape that the structure sits in. The roof panels are RFP which allow light to be diffused in creating soft light and shadows. This design team was a group of 12 students. We designed and built throughout the course of one semester, to get the final project installed on the site.
